A new edition of a bus stop board in LED technology
Stop boards are one of the main elements of the passenger information system.
Their task is to notify public transport passengers about the nearest departures of public transport vehicles from the stop.
PIXEL has designed, produced and programmed boards with smaller dimensions than before, based on LED technology (monochrome or RGB diodes), the implementation of which in the city brings many benefits.
The technical advantage of LED boards is a wider - compared to other technologies - operating temperature range of the device. LCD at low ambient temperatures (below zero) is characterized by a long response time, and the so-called black spots remain on the screen. ghosts”, i.e. shadows from previous images. In turn, at high temperatures, dark spots may appear on the LCD display, in extreme cases leading to complete damage to the screen. In LED technology, such events do not take place.
It is also important to note that the RGB matrices are controlled by the HDMI/DVI digital signal, which allows you to display images and animations. Dedicated and specialized FPGAs are used to present information.
An unquestionable advantage of using RGB diodes in the bus stop board is that the color itself is already information for the passenger. For example, when approaching an intersection with traffic lights, we are able to obtain information about the possibility of passing through the intersection thanks to the colors of the lights. In the same way, additional information can be provided on the bus stop board, even when the passenger is standing far enough away that he cannot read the text.
RGB allows you to present information in a way that is naturally assimilable to humans, just as red means warm and blue means cold. On the RGB board, on a small area, it is also easier to keep the information legible by highlighting individual data with different colors.
Advantages of smaller dimensions of the board.
The advantage of small stop boards is their low weight. This has an impact on the logistics of devices and faster assembly at the customer's site. Boards of this type are also easier to integrate into the existing infrastructure of the city. The size of the array is also important in the context of broadly understood security. The smaller surface of the device is more resistant to weather conditions, mainly to strong wind.
The universal design of the bus stop board produced by PIXEL allows for retrofitting or changing the configuration of the device (adding a camera, loudspeaker, changing the resolution, etc...)
What data do we present on the stop boards?
Line number, direction, departure time, current time.
How do the dashboards display content?
Data on the location of the buses are sent to the central system on an ongoing basis CeSIP. The system processes this information, compares it with the static information and makes it available to the boards using the PxDS (Pixel Display Server) module. The information on the display is constantly updated in conjunction with the PxDS application, presenting data on the planned arrival time of a given course, the presence of the vehicle at the stop and leaving the stop.

Promoting the attitude of no exclusions to the use of public transport, PIXEL equips its solution with a system for calling voice announcements for the visually impaired by pressing a button. Information is generated in the bus stop table using TTS (text to speech) technology and played back in the loudspeakers. The signal trigger source can actually be used arbitrarily. This is usually the aforementioned vandal-proof button on the pole, but it can also be a remote control.

PIXEL focuses on production independence. At the end of 2022, the company launched its own paint shop and printing house specializing in UV printing.
In order to meet the needs of our customers, it is possible to prepare and implement unusual projects for printing a bus stop board. Thus, the character of the area in which the stop is located is emphasized, e.g. the Old Market Square, and the function of tourist information is additionally performed (stop at the opera, zoo, museum, etc.).
