One year of using the intelligent toll collection system in Białystok!

In April 2021. a year has passed since PIXEL completed the implementation of the first stage of launching a modern toll collection system in Białystok Public Transport.

The project included the installation of mobile ticket machines in all BKM vehicles and the launch of a cashless payment system.
The second stage of works is the launch of payments for journeys in the MTT / PaYG model. This is the first implementation of this type in Poland!

Let us recall in In Białystok ticket machines, you can:

  • use the Smart Tariff BKM, i.e. pay for journeys by public transport after the settlement day at the most favorable tariff for you,
  • buy single, multi-journey and season tickets,
  • top up your e-wallet on the Białystok City Card,
  • collect and save on the city card season tickets and top-ups purchased via the passenger portal www.ekarta.bialystok.pl
  • link the payment card with an online account on the passenger portal in order to check the history of journeys and the functions that will be included in the next stage of the project.

Payments handled by Białystok ticket machines:

  • contactless payment card,
  • virtual payment, i.e. with a phone or watch that supports the NFC function (including Google Pay, Apple Pay and Garmin Pay),
  • Polish BLIK Mobile Payments System,
  • e-purse on the Białystok City Card.

The Białystok implementation is extraordinary on the Polish market. Passengers traveling with BKM vehicles can use the Smart BKM Tariff operating in the MTT / PaYG billing model. All you have to do is register the entry in the ticket machine, and then exit the vehicle. This is done by applying a contactless payment card, watch or phone with activated payments to the contactless payment card reader in the ticket machine, without the obligation to select any options on the screen. At the end of the billing day, the Smart Tariff BKM system will select the most advantageous tariff option, taking into account the number and duration of journeys as well as the tariff zones in which the passenger traveled during the last day.

The method of using BKM ticket machines is vividly presented in the videos encouraging the use of non-cash ticket purchases in the vehicle. In addition, the films are intended to explain how the system works and help the passenger answer any questions.

The PIXEL solution in the MTT / PaYG model is also an extensive data collection and analysis application for the transport operator.
